My life; an update

Hey guys, I almost neglected this blog. But luckily I remembered it just now, so you all get to hear what's been going on during the last week or so.
Well way back on Friday (the 19th) my father moved up to Sydney to take up a new job (my mother plans to follow at the end of this year). Making me the man of the house and our System Admin. Lets see how it goes and hope for the best, eh?
On a totally different note, on Tuesday (the 23rd) I went to enroll in my Uni course. Which was quite an interesting experience, not only did I get my student card, student email and an introduction to what I can expect for the rest of this year; but I also got to meet a few of the awesome people who will be doing the course along side me. Let me assure you that awesome is most definitely the word for these people, they were all friendly, interesting, and all seemed to be happy. I can't wait to get to know them all better.

First Round Offers

Well today year 12 students across Victoria got the opportunity to find out what Uni's had accepted them into their courses. I took this opportunity and was stoked to discover that I got my first preference Architectural studies at The University of Melbourne.
Now I would like to tell a little story about this discovery as I think its a nice one. I personally was willing to wait for my letter but my dad being curious decided to drive me to the local newsagents to buy the paper with the offers in it, we found my name and found the course code next to it 38121 and I begin searching for what that code means, halfway through this quest my dad says "38, that's Melbourne."
To which I reply "No way! You've got to be joking" as I wasn't expecting my first preference, instead I was expecting Deakin as it was my 2nd and 3rd.
"No joke" and it turns out to be right, I just let out the biggest cheer of joy and began running up and down Werribee in shear exhilaration.
So yes that's my anecdote.

Questions of Observation

Well late last night, while I was eating toast I came up with these four questions which I have decided are pretty important. They help us understand the universe in which we live and are also sometimes a lot of fun to answer. They are two Hows and two Whys, and whenever you consciously observe something should be asked if your brain doesn't already.
They are:
  • How is it now?
  • Why is it like that?
  • How did it get like that? (to some extent what did it used to be?)
  • Why can't it be different?
These are very rough versions and should be modified to suite the circumstances. I'd love to give some examples and I had a few last night but right now I can't remember any, I may post more on this later. If I remember that is.

Ratatouille

The next film by the awesome Pixar studios, I haven't heard anything about this before today. Who want to come see it with me? (it should be coming out in Winter).

New Year, New Blog

Well welcome to my new blog and 2007. As Blogger has gone out of Beta and I am a google nut I've decided to migrate my Blogging from MSN Windows Live Spaces to here. Hopefully this will encourage me to post somewhat more regularly but I doubt it.
Now as for New Years, I spent it at home reading The Science of Discworld, and I really don't care. What is the point of celebrating the start of a new year on the gregorian calendar, or any calendar but our own for that matter? The Earth goes around the sun whether or not we make a big deal about it at the time we consider to be the start of a new year. Sure a party's fun but surely the money spent on the big celebrations held by various governments and whatnot could be spent in many far more useful ways.

I think that's all I have for the moment.

PS. Oh do not forget to subscribe to the feed of this blog many tools exist for doing this though as a google nut I recommend Google Reader, but if this doesn't work for you feel free to contact me and I'll help you find a tool that will work for you.
